The school uniform guide for government school students for the next academic year (2024-2025) stated that the uniform is available at points of sale throughout the academic year, in addition to the availability of a service to deliver the uniform to students’ homes. The guide identified 53 points of sale for selling school uniforms for kindergarten students and students from the first to the third grades, distributed across different regions of the country. The points of sale include five schools that have been designated to sell school uniforms for a temporary period at the beginning of the academic year, an increase of three points of sale compared to the previous academic year, indicating that the prices of school uniforms range between 56 dirhams and 247 dirhams, depending on the type of item and the academic cycle.
School uniform prices start at AED 117 for male students in kindergarten, AED 180 for female students, AED 140 for males in the first cycle, and AED 209 for females. AED 80 for males in the second and third cycles, AED 233 for females in the second cycle, and AED 247 for females in the third cycle. The price of a winter jacket is AED 46 for students from kindergarten to the second cycle, and AED 56 for students in the third cycle. There are 26 outlets in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, eight in the Emirate of Dubai, 10 in the Emirate of Sharjah, two outlets in each of the Emirate of Ajman, the Emirate of Umm Al Quwain, and the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, and three outlets in the Emirate of Fujairah.
The guide outlines 10 rules for school uniforms for public school students, including the necessity of wearing the uniform according to the approved design for each educational stage, ensuring that the uniform looks elegant, tidy and clean, wearing flat, black, fully closed shoes or black sports shoes and white socks, and students wear sports shoes with the school sports uniform during sports class days or in-class and extracurricular activities, as well as the necessity for hair length and hairstyles to be in line with the values of the local community, and for its color to be natural. The school calendar, recently approved by the Cabinet, indicated that the new academic year (2024-2025) will begin on August 26 and end on June 27, 2025, for public and private schools in the country (regardless of the curriculum followed).
