Realize on Playstation VR2 of the porting of games already available for other viewers will be easier compared to what happened in the past with the previous model thanks to the new PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers of the PS5 viewer, which are close to today’s market standards, which makes the life of developers easier.
At least this is what was declared by Ryan Bousfield, creative director of The Last Worker, a first-person narrative adventure characterized by a particular dystopian setting, focused on the difficulties we encounter in an increasingly automated world.
“If you look at the PlayStation VR2 controller, it’s very similar to the Oculus controller,” Bousfield said in an interview with EDGE. “Companies are standardizing. Until a few years ago, we had the Vive stick controllers, the various Oculus controllers, and the PlayStation Move that didn’t even have a D-Pad.”
According to Bousfield, therefore, the PlayStation VR2 controllers and other modern virtual reality viewers resemble each other, perhaps not so much from an aesthetic point of view, but rather to the more practical one relating to the commands and functions included, which makes it easier to create port or publish one game simultaneously for multiple platforms.
On the contrary, the drastic differences between PlayStation VR2 and its predecessor, controller and tracking system included, instead make porting particularly complicated.
