A 44-year-old man was seriously poisoned tonight and three other people are in mild condition due to smoke inhalation in the fire in the garage of a chalet located at number 62 Calle Mayor, in the Madrid town of Torres de la Alameda.
A Emergency 112 spokesperson has reported that around half past eleven on Saturday night several calls have been received to the 112 coordination center alerting that a fire was breaking out in said home, which was put out by two Firefighters from the Community of Madrid. “The fire was very developed and affected the basement of the house, specifically in the garage,” explains a spokesperson for Emergencies Comunidad de Madrid 112.
A Civil Guard patrol arrived at the scene first and, with the help of the residents of the house, managed to break down the garage door and rescue the 44-year-old man, who was outside, in the street, unconscious. The man has been stabilized by Summa 112 health workers suffering from poisoning due to smoke inhalation and has been transferred in a very serious condition to the La Paz hospital in the capital in a mobile ICU.
The Summa has treated two other people who live in the house, a man and a woman of about 41 years old, who have been slightly poisoned and who have been transferred by the Red Cross to the Torrejón hospital. In addition, a civil guard who intervened from the first moment in the rescue has suffered mild poisoning and, after being treated by Summa, has been transferred by members of the Commonwealth of Emergency and Rescue Services of the East of Madrid (Surem). to the Alcalá de Henares hospital.
