Average profile is female, aged 30 to 39 and from the Southeast region; average debt value reaches R$4,388.21
The number of defaulters in the country in January 2024 rose 3.78% compared to the same month in 2023. There are 66.96 million debtors, according to the indicator of CNDL (National Confederation of Store Managers) and the SPC Brazil (Credit Protection Service).
According to the survey, 4 out of every 10 Brazilians are negative – which is equivalent to 40.83%. The average debtor profile is female, aged 30 to 39 and from the Southeast region.

According to the research, among the debtors, 51.10% are women and 48.90% are men. The largest age group is 30 to 39 years old, representing 23.61% of defaulters – 16 million people.
Here is the index by age group:
- 18 to 24 years old – 8.77%;
- 25 to 29 years old – 12.33%;
- 30 to 39 years old – 23.61;
- 40 to 49 years old – 21.01%;
- 50 to 64 years old – 19.93;
- 65 to 84 years old – 11.56%;
- 85 or more – 1.99%.
In relation to the region, Southeast leads the list. Here are the fees:
- Southeast – 9.03%;
- North East – 7.90%;
- North – 5.02%;
- Midwest – 4.44%;
- South – 4.25%.
