The team Mooney VR46 greets i Sepang test at the end of a Day 2 characterized by real ups and downs for the team founded by Valentino Rossi; Specifically, the session saw a clear recovery in the performance of Luca Marini, who remained in the pits yesterday due to a technical problem on the front of his Ducati. Twenty-four hours after the resolution of the imperfections, the 24-year-old from Urbino ended the day in 11th place, unable to improve his 1.58.430 due to the heavy downpour that hit the Malaysian track. For the same reason, Marco Bezzecchi was no longer able to drop below his best performance of the day, which earned him 16th position. Moreover, the number 12 was also the protagonist of a small crash during the morning, without any consequences for the 23-year-old from Rimini.
An unexpected event that did not however regret the newcomer in the category, who commented on the outcome of his tests as follows: “I honestly didn’t expect a ride like this – he has declared – I’m happy, we did a great job with the team, the technicians and Ducati. Too bad about this morning: just before my fastest lap, I went long at the last corner, entered the gravel and took a small fall. I went back to the garage and with different tires I did my best lap. An impressive time, built step by step from the shakedown to today. Compared to the first days, I feel better on the bike, at the beginning I was missing something on the front end, more than anything else in terms of riding, then we checked all the data well and we managed to take a good step forward. I can’t wait to get back to work in Mandalika ”.
Satisfaction also expressed by Luca Marini, who thus had the opportunity to redeem himself from a Day 1 spent in the pits: “I’m happy with how this second day of testing went – He admitted – I am satisfied with the basis that I have found, we are not 100%considering that I didn’t shoot much yesterday, but it’s fine. Today both bikes were perfect, I was quick from the pit lane exit and I had a good feeling. To be only the second day in Sepang, we made a nice step on lap time and we tried something at the setting level. In the afternoon the plan included a qualifying simulation, but the rain surprised us. Too bad, but it’s not the priority at the moment and I’m happy to have been able to lap in the wet at the end of the day ”.
