22 passengers suffered spinal injuries and one man died. Another woman was seriously injured after severe turbulence in a Boeing aircraft.
Bangkok – After the emergency landing, the Singapore Airlines Boeing 777 was in chaos: oxygen masks were hanging down, luggage compartments were open, paramedics were tending to the injured. Kerry Jordan, originally from Devon and now living in Australia, was on her way back from a holiday in the UK with her husband Keith Davis on May 21, 2024. In the middle of the flight, the plane suddenly plummeted. The turbulence caused numerous passengers to be ripped out of their seats and thrown violently against the ceiling. Kerry Jordan was one of them. Her husband describes the moment as terrifying: “We suddenly fell and landed directly on the ceiling. I flew through the ventilation slots and masks, Kerry hit the luggage cover.”

After the emergency landing in Bangkok, Kerry Jordan was immediately taken to Samittivej Srinakarin Hospital and underwent emergency surgery. Despite the doctors’ best efforts, she remains paralyzed from the waist down. Her husband reports that she was conscious on the plane, but very weak and unable to move. Her recovery will take weeks.
