Members of the Libyan House of Representatives and the Supreme Council of State agreed on the necessity of activating the laws for presidential and legislative elections issued by the “6+6” Committee, stressing their support for the efforts of the United Nations mission to Libya to prepare for the second expanded forum of Parliament and the State Council in the coming days, which aims to accelerate the launch and implementation of a road map. Agreed upon, according to what a Libyan source confirmed to Al-Ittihad.
Participants from Parliament, the State Council, and representatives of the coordination of parties and national movements in Misrata stressed the expansion of consultations across all of Libya’s geography and urged the House of Representatives and the Supreme Council of State to launch a political process facilitated by the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, to begin unifying national institutions and the executive authority to create appropriate conditions for elections.
A meeting of members of the Libyan House of Representatives and the Supreme Council of State was held in the presence of coordination representatives in the city of Misrata, yesterday, to complement efforts to achieve consensus, and to confirm that the electoral laws issued by the 6+6 Committee are the legal framework for holding legislative and presidential elections, and moving towards forming a mini-electoral government.
