Belgian Vincent Kompany, the new coach of Bayern Munich, confirmed that obtaining the position of coach of the historic champion of the German Football League “is not an achievement” in itself, indicating that he does not want the club’s leaders and fans to be convinced of it in advance.
Kompany said during his official presentation to the media: “Getting the job is not an achievement. Achievement is success at the job, I want everyone to not only believe in me beforehand, but also in my work on the pitch during my time here. I know how important Bayern Munich is. I’m proud to work with him, but also very excited to be here. “For me, the season can start right away.”
Bayern announced the appointment of Kompany as the new technical director, ending its long search, which lasted several months, for a coach to succeed Thomas Tuchel, who left the team’s training at the end of the past season. “We had a long research process to make the decision,” said Bayern CEO Jan Christian Driessen. But we all agreed that Vincent Kompany is the right man for the job.”
Signing Kompany, who this season was unable to save Burnley from relegation in the English Premier League, is considered a big bet for Bayern’s leaders, who are now hoping to keep a coach for a longer period, which has been a problem for the club for a while.
