Ramzan Kadyrov publishes ‘careless’ post and 21 Russian soldiers are killed by Ukraine’s armed forces. Russian Telegram channels point the finger at the Chechen leader, who is too casual in managing communication to highlight the alleged merits of the soldiers of the Akhmat battalion for the conquest of the village of Ryzhivka, which was however denied by the Ukrainian authorities. In his post, however, Kadyrov provided logistical information that was exploited by Kiev, according to Russian Telegram channels. The Ukrainians used the information to strike in the area and kill 21 Russian soldiers.
“Ramzan Kadyrov was responsible for the death of over 20 Russian soldiers in the Kursk region,” the posts read. “This is not the first time we have entered Ryzhivka, our men go there all the time. But this idiot decided to boast about who knows what. As a result, the enemy hit a group of soldiers on the border in the Kursk region: we have 21 dead”.
The affair would have come under the spotlight of elements of the Russian armed forces, who would like to bring the matter to Moscow’s attention: the episode, beyond Kadyrov’s alleged responsibilities, apparently is yet another case in which the role of the Chechen units in the war has been disproportionately highlighted: in general, the contribution of the men sent by Kadyrov is considered marginal and ‘choreographic’, without real impact on the front. The theme has been known since the initial stages of the war, when on social media – including TikTok – there was an abundance of videos in which the Chechens performed dramatic actions with extensive use of automatic weapons in contexts of urban guerrilla warfare in Mariupol, but without any enemy in front of.
