The Plenary Assembly of the CGIE, General Council of Italians in the World, called on this occasion to elect the new general secretary after the death of Michele Schiavone, will take place in Rome from 17 to 21 June. The work, which will take place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in the international conference room, will open on Monday 17th at 9.30 with the meeting of the presidential committee and continue in the afternoon with the meeting of the Continental Commissions and Government Appointed Councillors.
The second day of work will open with a greeting from the general director for Italians abroad and migration policies of Maeci, Luigi Maria Vignali, followed by a minute’s silence in memory of the general secretary Michele Schiavone and the previous executive secretary Marco Nobles. From here the work will get to the heart of the polling station for the election of the new general secretary and, where necessary, possible elections of a new deputy general secretary or a new member of the Presidential Committee. The thematic commissions will meet in the afternoon.
The speech of the vice president of the Council of Ministers and minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, is scheduled for Wednesday, which will also be broadcast live on the Farnesina YouTube channel.
The work of the Plenary Assembly of the CGIE will continue with the report of the government and the newly elected general secretary.
On the agenda of the work of the General Council of Italians Abroad, which will end on Friday 21 June, the promotion of the Italian language and culture abroad, the proposal to modify the internal regulations of the CGIE, the proposal to reform the law establishing the Comites (committees elected directly by compatriots residing abroad).
The information from the Department for Digital Transformation is scheduled for the last day of the works. The work of the 46th Plenary Assembly will conclude with the vote on motions and agendas.
