Defense One: The Pentagon is trying to prevent the Russian military from using Starlink
The United States Department of Defense is trying to prevent Russian military personnel from using Starlink satellite communications systems. About it reports publication Defense One with reference to Assistant Pentagon Chief John Plumb.
Plumb explained that the United States is actively working together with the Ukrainian side and SpaceX to prevent the Russian Federation from using Starlink terminals. At the same time, he admitted that the Pentagon cannot force SpaceX to stop servicing satellites owned by Russia. According to the assistant to the head of the US Department of Defense, the Russian Federation is allegedly purchasing Starlink on the black market.
Earlier it became known that the Pentagon paid $23 million to Elon Musk’s SpaceX for the supply of Starlink terminals to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). It is noted that the contract for the supply of Starlink to Ukrainian troops was concluded in June 2023, it expires in May 2024.
