-The International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruled this Tuesday on Nicaragua’s lawsuit against Germany, accused of violating the 1948 Genocide Convention by supplying weapons to Israel for the war in Gaza.
The Central American country denounced Germany in March before the highest United Nations court, based in The Hague, after almost six months of war between Israel and the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
“Based on the factual information and legal arguments presented by the parties, the court concluded that, At the moment, the circumstances are not such as to require the exercise of its power under article 41 of the statute to indicate provisional measures“said the president of the court, Judge Nawaf Salam, in reading the decision.
Nicaragua had hoped the judges would impose emergency measures to stop Germany from supplying weapons and other aid to Israel.
