Ilves claimed victory in Vaasa, Petri Kontiola scored 1+2.
Vaasa
To Tampere Ilves’ goalkeepers have been in good shape in their first two games of the ice hockey league season. On Wednesday, the people of Tampere blanked Pori Ässät at home with goals 3–0, when the puck was stopped in the goal Marek Langhamer. The same pace continued on Friday, when Ilves beat Sport away in Vaasa with 4–1 goals.
In Ilves’ goal, pucks were blocked this time Jakub Malek, who stopped 32 shots in the match. Malek’s score was only broken in the last second of the game, when Juho Tommila fired from the line Sport’s copper broken.
Ilves head coach Joko Myrrä is pleased with his team’s moves in his own defensive area.
“”Karhu” Korhonen (Markus Korhonen) has once again shown his greatness as a goalkeeper coach. He has done a good job. They (Malek and Langhamer) certainly have healthy competition and both are top guys,” Myrrä praises.
Also Alivoima from Tampere has been 100% until now, although in the opening set of Friday’s match, Ilves had to play with a two-man understrength for almost a minute. In addition Eetu Tuulola fooled himself into the shower after tackling Sport Emil Johansson on. Ilves also endured Tuulola’s five-minute.
“The superiority of the first set offered us a lot of opportunities, but we were left without a prize. In a way, it brought a hint of pain to our game”, the Sport pilot Risto Dufva saddens.
The people of Tampere scored enough goals to win in the second period, when Henrik Haapala first put the visitors in the lead and Petri Kontiola (1+2) increased the numbers to 2–0 with superior numbers. Eemeli Finland increased the visitors’ lead to three goals in the middle of the final period and secured the win for the visitors Lester Lancaster.
