Mexico.- The PRI leader Alejandro ‘Alito’ Moreno assured that he will not leave the leadership of the PRIin response to the demand of various PRI members in the face of the defeat of the opposition in the 2022 elections and the controversy over the leaked audios of the leader.
Although ‘Alito’ Moreno affirmed that The voices of the PRI demanding his resignation will be heard Due to the results of the elections, where the tricolor lost the governments of Hidalgo and Oaxaca, he refused to leave the leadership of the party.
“But he is not going to leave the leadership?“, he was asked, to which the PRI leader responded with a resounding: “Of course not“.
“I respect everyone, we listen to them, in the PRI we listen to all the voices. The PRI members know who works in the campaign, who stands up for the party and who shows up only during electoral times,” he added.
In an interview with Carlos Loret de Mola, he reaffirmed what was said, after the journalist questioned him about the audios leaked by Layda Sansores, governor of Campeche, which show controversial statements by Alejandro Moreno, such as “journalists must be starved to death.” .
The former Governor of Campeche again accused the AMLO government of engaging in political persecution against him for voting against the electricity reform, and assured that they will not “bend” him and he will continue in the leadership of the PRI, once again denying the possibility of his departure.
“The government is not going to scare me or bend me, I will continue to be the national president of the PRIthey can get everything they want because people already know and realize that this is political persecution, because this government wants to establish a dictatorship,” he replied.
Faced with the PRI’s request for his departure, ‘Alito’ Moreno responded that “we would have to see what voices” are calling for him to resign from the leadership of the party, and accused that President López Obrador seeks to remove him so that “another arrives at the PRI on his knees” and collaborates with the 4T.
“What he wants is to remove me from the PRI so that another arrives at the PRI on his kneesso that they tell him ‘this is going to happen to you’, and so that the next day they send the electrical reform, the electoral reform, and this becomes a dictatorship,” said the PRI.
Faced with reproaches for the defeat of the PRI and allies in Hidalgo and Oaxacastates historically governed by the tricolor, ‘Alito’ Moreno excused himself saying that part of the electoral results had to do with the inequity in the contest due to the fact that there was a “state election”.
He charged that the leaders of the Va por México alliance were victims of aggression, and that governors and federal officials participated in campaigns in favor of Morena.
Likewise, the PRI leader accused the participation of the organized crime in support of Morenareferring especially to the elections in Tamaulipas, where the Va por México candidate lost.
