The Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, said this Monday, the 10th, that he wants to take advantage of the week to explain and clarify the effects of the Provisional Measure that limits the use of PIS/Cofins credits, to “dilute” certain questions that, in According to him, they do not match the intention of the MP, especially with regard to exports. Haddad said that, since Friday, he has already spoken to some business leaders and that the Treasury is preparing material to present at meetings with business leaders, especially confederations.
“But the focus of our concern is that this cost rose from 2019 to 2022 from R$5 billion to R$22 billion, so there is something happening that needs to be clarified in relation to the systematics. What the Revenue wants is to make a more transparent system, which can, through an operational system, identify whether credit compensation is being carried out in accordance with the law, because the impression it gives is that this is not happening. Or it is happening improperly, even due to taxpayer disagreement”, said Haddad.
According to him, this operational system to provide transparency to tax benefits will probably be available from next Monday.
“So the operating system is to provide transparency to this. It is a cost that we are having that not even society knows in detail, who the beneficiaries are, why the bill reached R$22 billion, and there was no legal change that would justify this increase”, stated the minister.
