The Ministry of Culture in Greece announced that the Acropolis, the most visited site in the capital, Athens, will be closed to the public today during the hottest hours due to the raging heat wave in the country, along with schools in the central and southern regions of the country due to expectations of severe temperature rises of up to 43 degrees Celsius.
In this context, the Greek authorities announced the provision of 7 air-conditioned public areas to protect citizens from high temperatures, in addition to the use of drones equipped with thermal cameras in the capital, Athens, to help coordinate the health authorities’ response.
