To hear the words of Carlos Ghosn, one would think of an ill-concealed rancor towards the car manufacturers that once prided themselves on driving. And in fact it has been for several months that the former CEO, on trial in Japan and escaped to Lebanon in a daring way, is shooting zero on Renault and Nissancriticizing them very heavily.
At the French newspaper Le Parisien, Carlos Ghosn wanted to make it clear once again that he did not like the way he was treated by the Japanese authorities and the management that supported him during his tenure at Renault and Nissan. According to Ghosn, today the alliance is made up of two “fragile and small” builders, who have moved away from his dream, that of the top of the world market. Clearly today Ghosn cannot intervene: in his place, at the helm of the Renault Group, is Luca De Meo.
“I don’t even regret a second of escaping from Japan. Blaming myself for Renault and Nissan’s struggles after my arrest was ridiculous. Accusing myself of having undertaken a competition on production volumes is indecent. It actually makes me sad to see Renault now: it’s just a shadow of what it was. They are making a lot of promises and a lot of plans, but strategy only counts for 5%, while actions and results make up 95%. Currently the results are mediocre, while the words are manyGhosn said.
The former executive cannot return to France, otherwise Interpol would be immediately with the handcuffs ready to send him back to Japan. He therefore he will continue to live in Lebanon, despite the economic crisis that the country is experiencing, waiting for better times. He can count on a lot of savings, after all, even if he admits to having lost a lot of money in the period of detention and even after the escape.
