German soccer star Toni Kroos will end his playing career at the EC home matches of the summer.
Kroos, 34, and his club team Real Madrid announced the decision on Tuesday afternoon.
Kroos, who plays in the center of the midfield, moved to Real in the summer of 2014. He has formed an unfailing radar pair for the enduring success Luka Modric with.
“After ten years, at the end of this season, this chapter will come to an end. I will never forget this incredibly successful time,” Kroos wrote in his farewell message on Instagram.
“I am happy and proud that I found the right moment for my decision, and that I was able to choose it myself. My goal was always to end my career when I was at my best as a player.”
Croesus won four Spanish and three German championships in his career.
He has the chance to end his club career with a sixth Champions League win when Real Madrid face Borussia Dortmund in the final.
In addition, Kroos is the world champion from the summer of 2014.
