The Federal Police reported, this Saturday, 24, that they identified a man suspected of having tried to invade the Palácio da Alvorada, the official residence of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. According to the agency, he was located in a nearby condominium. The identity was not disclosed.
“At this moment, he is providing clarifications at the Federal Police Superintendence of the Federal District”, says the note. “The vehicle that would have been used in the attempted invasion was seized. The PF carries out inspections on the car and at the scene of the incident. The investigations are ongoing.”
Still in the morning, the driver of a car broke through the blockade made by the Institutional Security Office (GSI) in the access area to Alvorada. The vehicle had its tires punctured by a blocking device, but managed to escape. GSI agents even fired warning shots.
President Lula was at the official residence at the time of the attempted invasion, but he was not at risk.
