Lapo Elkann does not mince words, and the thing in itself is certainly not a surprise. Through his Twitter profile, the brother of the Ferrari president used the 280 characters made available by the famous social network to send a very clear message, targeting the management team at the helm of the Scuderia.
“Ferrari needs seriousness and a winning team, in the pits and outside, it’s time to wake us up”. Elkann went on to go even more specifically: “Enough with politics and games, this way you will never win”.
The post obviously attracted the attention of many readers, and to the response of a follower who underlined the absence of the presidency, Lapo replied with a categorical “I know, unfortunately”.

But what created more debate was the expression “little games”, read as an attack on the choices made by the leadership headed by his brother John, who took over the presidency of Ferrari five years ago following the death of Sergio Marchionne.
Lapo Elkann has never hidden his love for the Scuderia, always personally attending at least a couple of Grands Prix each season. An unconditional support, which Elkann wanted to highlight with a photo that shows him in a red ‘Scuderia’ suit with the single-seaters of the early 2000s in the background, the last era that saw Ferrari become world champion.
Elkann’s words will cause discussion, and will certainly contribute to raising the bar of the controversies that have taken shape after the disappointing start to the season.
