in the EU elections was voted by Monday evening, 18.7 percent of the eligible voters living in Finland. This means almost 803,000 people. In the last election in 2019, the voter turnout was 16.2 percent so far.
Monday was so far the busiest early voting day in these EU elections. A total of around 190,000 people voted, which is 4.4 percent of the eligible voters.
Women have been more diligent voters than men. 20 percent of women with the right to vote had gone to vote, while the proportion of men was 17.3 percent.
Voting has been liveliest in the constituency of Helsinki, where almost a quarter of those entitled to vote had gone to vote.
The next most active voters have been in Pirkanmaa, Varsinais-Suomea and Uusimaa. In all three constituencies, about a fifth of those entitled to vote had already voted by Monday evening.
Early voting for the EU elections ends on Tuesday. The actual election day is Sunday, June 9.
