Uniper, of which the Finnish energy group Fortum owns 78 percent, is in difficulties due to the availability and price increase of natural gas. The Finnish government, on the other hand, owns 51 percent of Fortum.
Uniper, suffering from Russian gas supply problems, is currently making losses of tens of millions of euros every day. Fortum has been negotiating with German representatives for weeks to resolve the situation.
Minister Tuppurainen participated in the negotiations in Berlin last week.
