With the aim of making observations for the next edition of the Copa América, which will be played between June 20th and July 14th, coach Dorival Júnior chose not to initially arm Brazil with its usual starters (among them strikers Vinicius Júnior and Rodrygo, midfielders Lucas Paquetá and Bruno Guimarães and defender Marquinhos). Thus, the team did not play a first half.
However, the Brazilian team managed to open the scoring in the first moments of the match with a beautiful move created by Savinho. In the fourth minute, the Girona (Spain) player advanced through the middle of the Mexican defense and played the ball at the edge of the area to Andreas Pereira, who got rid of two opponents before hitting the ball.
After the break, the team led by Dorival Júnior managed to expand after just eight minutes, when full-back Yan Couto went to the baseline and crossed low into the middle of the area, where Gabriel Martinelli scored the goal. And when the match seemed to be under control, the Mexican team took advantage of Brazil’s low rotation to equalize the score with goals from Quiñones, in the 27th minute, and Guillermo Martínez, in the 47th.
However, the Mexicans’ joy lasted just three minutes, as Vinícius Júnior and Endrick, who entered the pitch during the second half, lost their balance to guarantee the Brazilian victory. The Real Madrid striker advanced from the left and crossed the ball to the Palmeiras centre-forward, who rose high to head the ball past goalkeeper Julio González.
Now Brazil is preparing for its last match before the Copa América, which will be against the United States next Wednesday (12). In the match, which will be held at the Camping World Stadium, in Orlando, the expectation is that coach Dorival Júnior will opt to take the national team’s starting lineup onto the field.
