Chico Forti has returned to Italy. “The intervention of the Meloni government is decisive”
Chico Forti, the 65-year-old from Trentino released in recent days from a Florida prison after 24 years of detention, has returned to Italy. Forti was sentenced to life in prison for a 1998 murder in Miami. Forti’s family members are maintaining maximum confidentiality for now. However, their hope, as reported by the Ansa agency, is that “this affair which has been going on for 25 years can be quickly concluded”. They also point out that “the intervention of the Meloni government in recent weeks has accelerated the process”.
USA: Tajani, ‘great action by the government and diplomacy on Chico Forti’
‘These results are achieved when you work in silence, without controversy’
“These results are achieved when you work in silence, without causing controversy with a great action by the government certainly, but also by our diplomacy. This was declared by the Foreign Minister, Antonio Tajani, commenting on the news of Chico Forti’s arrival in Italy , after 24 years of detention in the United States.
“Since we took office we have been working so that Chico Forti can serve the second part of his detention in an Italian prison”, added Tajani.
“It seems like a right choice to us, a choice that protects the interests of the Italian citizen, who among other things has had impeccable behavior as a prisoner in the United States and can continue to be a model prisoner even in an Italian prison”, concluded the owner of the Farnesina.
