The boy’s remains were transferred to the church of Santa Maria Maggiore in the city of Assisi.
In Catholicism candidates for sainthood usually have to perform two miracles before being declared a saint.
Acutis performed his second miracle in July 2022. A Florentine girl had fallen off her bike, hurt her head badly and had to undergo surgery. The Vatican by his chances of survival were slim.
Six days after the fall, the girl’s mother had traveled to Acutis’ grave, prayed and left him a letter. The Vatican claims that the girl had started breathing on her own that same day.
Ten days later, the girl’s brain bleeding had stopped, and in September she herself was able to travel to Acutis’ grave to thank for this intervention.
On Thursday, Pope Francis acknowledged the miracle and announced that he would convene a cardinal consistor, the plenary session of cardinals, where the canonization of Acutis will be considered along with the consideration of three other candidates for sainthood.
According to Encyclopedia Britannica, Acutis will be canonized in 2025.

The Pope was also impressed by Acutis’s ideas. In 2019, Franciscus quoted in a message aimed at young people in his exhortation Acutia:
“Carlo said that ‘everyone is born as an original, but many die as a photocopy’. Don’t let that happen to you!”
