Biologist Sozykin: almonds protect against the development of cardiovascular diseases
Almonds protect the human body from the development of cardiovascular diseases, and also reduce cholesterol and blood sugar levels. About this NEWS.ru told Associate Professor of the Department of Physiology, Human Ecology and Biomedical Knowledge of the State University of Education, biologist Alexander Sozykin.
Almonds are useful not only for preventing the development of cardiovascular diseases. It also helps Russians already suffering from similar diseases. Reducing cholesterol and blood sugar levels prevents the formation of atherosclerotic plaques on the walls of blood vessels, the specialist explained.
It is recommended to eat 10–16 almonds per day. This will lower blood pressure and stimulate blood flow to the internal organs.
Almonds are especially useful for people with type 2 diabetes, as they help prevent the development of insulin resistance. This nut also helps fight overweight and obesity due to its high protein and fiber content and a small amount of carbohydrates. After eating almonds, a feeling of fullness remains for a long time, which means that a person consumes fewer calories, the biologist concluded.
Earlier, cardiologist Igor Vidyaskin listed the varieties of fish that can be consumed by people with heart disease. These are fatty varieties: salmon, mackerel, herring, trout, sardines. It is advisable to use the product twice a week, the specialist said.
