At least eight people died this Tuesday in a fire that broke out in a hospital in the north Iranian city of Rasht, that has already been controlled.

The fire at Qaem Hospital began in the early hours of the morning, around 1:30 a.m. local time (22:00 GMT), in the emergency electrical installations on the lower floors of the center for reasons that have not yet been clarified, said Mohammad Taghi Ashubi, president of the Gilan University of Medical Sciences, where the city of Rasht is located, reported the official IRNA agency.
The source, whose agency manages the hospital, indicated that the fire has been “fully controlled” by firefighters and that 142 patients were transferred to other hospitals, 97 of whom are still hospitalized.

Last January, a large fire broke out at the Gandhi Hospital without causing any casualties and almost a hundred patients were evacuated to other hospitals.
