The Vice President of the Republic and Minister of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services, Geraldo Alckmin, said that the trips to China and Saudi Arabia that he will make over the weekend will increase sales and open more markets for Brazil. “We exported US$340 billion last year and 30% went to China alone,” he said in an interview with BandNews.
He travels this Saturday, June 1st, with a delegation that will include other ministers and 150 businesspeople.
According to Alckmin, the agenda seeks to strengthen ties, establish cooperation in various areas and open markets for Brazilian products.
Highlight is participation in Cosban
The highlight of the agenda is the meeting that will take place next Thursday, the 6th, when Alckmin participates in the Sino-Brazilian High Level Commission for Concertation and Cooperation (Cosban), a negotiating instrument between Brazil and China created in 2004.
Cosban enables high-level negotiations in various sectors. “The year 2024 marks 20 years of the dialogue mechanism and 50 years of establishing bilateral relations,” said the ministry.

Still in China, Alckmin will meet with Chinese vice-president, Han Zheng, who co-chairs Cosban alongside the Brazilian vice-president.
In Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, a bilateral meeting is planned with the Minister of Investment, Khalid Al Falih, and the Minister of Defense, Prince Khalid bin Salman. “The Saudi agenda also includes meetings with businesspeople and investment funds from both countries, in which BNDES, CNI, ApexBrasil and ABDI participate,” informed the MDIC.
