A Spanish soldier was killed in Poland during a live-fire exercise organized by the North Atlantic Alliance, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez reported on April 22.
“I would like to convey my sincere condolences to the family and friends of the Spanish corporal who died today in an accident in Poland during NATO maneuvers,” the politician wrote on the social network X.
According to the press service of the Spanish army, the serviceman died at the Bemovo-Piske training ground.
“The accident occurred during a tactical live-fire exercise,” the department commented on the social network X.
Incidents with military personnel have become more frequent in Poland. Earlier, on April 18, five Polish soldiers were injured after a military truck carrying them ran off the road and crashed into a tree.
On March 25, two more people were killed during military exercises at a training ground in Silesia in Poland. According to unofficial data, the explosion occurred on the territory of a special forces base. Later, on March 26, Poland's fifth soldier died during military exercises in the High Tatras since early March. The country's Ministry of Defense suspended military exercises after his death.
Prior to this, on March 5, two servicemen were hit by a tracked vehicle during a NATO exercise in Poland. This happened at the Ground Forces training center in Drawsko-Pomorskie. Both soldiers later died.
