Pauli Pentti was awarded the Jussi Prize for his screened film Crime and Punishment with Aki Kaurismäki.
Film producer Pauli Pentti died Saturday, Feb. 26. He died Saturday morning at Haartman Hospital in Helsinki, exhausted by a long-term illness.
Pentti was born on April 2, 1958 in Parkano and was 63 years old at the time of his death.
Pent’s son confirms this to Helsingin Sanomat.
Pentti did a career of more than four decades in the film and television industry as a director, assistant director and producer. He also worked as a screenwriter, illuminator and actor, among other things.
Pentti worked for a long time as an assistant instructor for the Kaurismäki brothers. Aki Kaurismäki for production, he co-directed films such as films Shadows in paradise (1986), Hamlet in the business world (1987), Ariel (1988), Leningrad Cowboys Go America (1989), Match factory girl (1990), I Hired a Contract Killer (1991), Bohemian life (1992) and Total Balalaika Show (1993).
Pentti was awarded the Jussi Prize for Best Screenplay together with Aki Kaurismäki for the film Crime and Punishment (1983). Pentti was also an assistant director.
