Maduro announces suspension of social network X in Venezuela for 10 days
Venezuelan President Nicolas announced the suspension of the X social network in the country for 10 days. The decision of the Venezuelan authorities is reported by Reuters.
He accused the platform, owned by American billionaire Elon Musk, of inciting hatred and civil war. Maduro said the social network has 10 days to “provide guarantees” that it will continue to comply with Venezuelan laws.
On July 30, Elon Musk accused Maduro of electoral fraud that resulted in the Venezuelan leader’s reelection. In response, Maduro said the American billionaire was “the sworn enemy of peace in Venezuela” and invited Musk to fly to Venezuela to fight him. Musk then threatened to take Maduro to the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay on a donkey.
