The Egyptian presidential spokesman said in a statement: “President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi made a phone call to former US President Donald Trump to check on his health after he was shot, wishing him safety, and reiterating his condemnation of all forms of violence, terrorism and hatred.”
The statement added: “The President also noted the close ties between the two friendly peoples and the depth of the strategic partnership between the two countries, which was appreciated by Trump, who thanked the President (Sisi) for the generous gesture.”
Trump was the target of an assassination attempt when a gunman opened fire on him during an election rally on July 13 in Butler, Pennsylvania.
The Republican Party has officially chosen Trump as its candidate for the presidential elections scheduled for next November.
