Sharjah achieved its second consecutive victory in its friendly matches program in its preparatory camp in Austria, by defeating Al-Gharafa of Qatar 3-2, in the match that brought the two teams together yesterday evening, Sunday, as part of the “King’s” preparations for the start of the new season. The “King’s” goals were scored by the trio Caio Lucas, Firas Al-Arabi and Luan Pereira.
The victory is the second in a row in Sharjah’s friendly matches in its external camp, which started on July 10 and will continue until August 3, after its victory in the first friendly match against the Czech Lisin 3-1. The “King’s” preparation program includes playing 5 friendly matches in the preparation camp.
The match against Al Gharafa of Qatar, led by Portuguese Pedro Martinez, who won the award for best coach in the Qatari league last season, provided a good opportunity for Sharjah’s technical staff, led by Romanian Cosmin, in light of the team’s reluctance to conclude any deals so far in the “summer mercato.”
Sharjah came out empty-handed in terms of titles last season, after finishing fourth in the overall standings of the ADNOC Professional League with 42 points.
The “King” will begin its journey in the new season by playing two consecutive “derby” matches, the first against Khorfakkan in the first round of the “Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank Cup”, and the second against its host Dibba Al-Hisn, the “newcomer” to the Professional League in the “first round”.
