The African anticyclone Minos is about to overwhelm Italy with record temperatures in almost all of the North, Center and South. Today, June 18, a yellow warning (alert 1) is expected in 11 of the 27 cities monitored by the heat wave bulletin of the Ministry of Health. However, there are two cities in orange: Rome and Perugia.

They are Ancora, Bologna, Cagliari, Campobasso, Florence, Frosinone, Latina, Palermo, Pescara, Rieti and Viterbo. While it will be orange (alert 2, therefore weather conditions that pose a risk to the health of the population, in particular for the elderly and children) in Perugia and Rome.
On Wednesday, the number of orange-label cities rises to 10
The heat situation worsens on Wednesday. There will be 10 cities with an orange sticker: Ancona, Bologna, Campobasso, Frosinone, Palermo, Perugia, Pescara, Rieti, Rome and Viterbo.

The first peak of the heat will therefore be reached between Wednesday and Thursday with extreme, exceptional values: Benevento and Foggia 40°C, Matera and Potenza (at 800 metres) 38°C, Catania will be boiling with 37°C in the shade like Florence, Arezzo, Rome, Terni and Forlì. Locally, on the Major Islands, peaks of 42-43°C cannot be ruled out.
A heat wave that could be very long, in the North at least until the summer solstice, this year the solstice will take place on Thursday 20 June at 10.50 pm, while in the Centre-South well beyond this astronomical date, perhaps even indefinitely.
