European football championships|Kylian Mbappé’s nose was broken.
French head coach of the national team Didier Deschamps told the media that the superstar Kylian Mbappé “does not feel well”. Mbappé’s nose was broken in France’s 1–0 win over Austria, tells British magazine The Guardian.
“His nose took a bad hit,” Deschamps told the media after the match.
“We have to check his fitness, but it’s complicated, which is very unfortunate for us. Our medical team is treating him.”
Deschamps could not yet offer a more detailed analysis of his star’s condition.
Head of the French Football Federation Philippe Diallo however, allayed concerns by saying that the superstar does not need surgery.
Sports media The Athletic tells, that Mbappe needs a shock-proof mask on his face to return to the field. The French star also jokes about it on the messaging service X.
“Any ideas about masks?” Mbappé writes with a laughing emoji.
Mbappé was injured at the end of the Austria match while chasing the ball. His face hit Kevin Danson to the shoulder. As the game continued, Mbappé went to the bench on his own, where the Frenchman also received a yellow card.
Mbappé is one of the biggest stars of the French team and of the whole tournament.
Mbappé, who will play in Real Madrid next season, said during the Austria match that he will not participate in the Olympic football in Paris.
“My club team has taken a very clear position regarding the Olympics, so I will not be able to participate in the Olympic tournament,” said Mbappé.
