CENTCOM: Ukrainian ship Verbena attacked by Houthis sends distress signal
The Ukrainian ship Verbena, which was attacked by the Houthis in the Gulf of Aden, sent a distress signal. This is reported by RIA News with reference to the US Central Command (CENTCOM).
The ship Anna Meta came to the aid of the cargo carrier, which evacuated the crew and took them to a safe place. It is clarified that the reason for the evacuation was a fire that was impossible to overcome. At the same time, according to CENTCOM, the Iranian frigate Jamaran was located not far from the Ukrainian ship, but it ignored the distress signal.
The sinking of the cargo ship became known on the night of Sunday, June 16.
