compensation MP
Also on Tuesday (June 11), the Senate returned to the Plateau, part of the compensation MP which created restrictions on the use of PIS/Cofins credit by companies.
The measure had been sent to Congress a week earlier. Pacheco had already warned the president Lula who was dissatisfied with the lack of time to negotiate.
PL “anti-delation” and “anti-abortion”
On Wednesday (June 12), the Chamber approved in a quick vote 2 urgent requests. The 1st was about the bill known as the “anti-snitch” bill, which prohibits the snitching of prisoners, whether defendants or convicts.
The other text was the “anti-abortion” PL, which equates abortion after 22 weeks to the crime of homicide. Today, current legislation determines that pregnancy must be terminated in an induced manner in cases of rape, risk of death to the pregnant woman and fetal anencephaly.
The project establishes that, even if the pregnancy is the result of rape, termination is not permitted if the fetus is considered “viable”that is, capable of surviving outside the uterus.
With emergencies, project analyzes are accelerated to be carried out directly in plenary, without going through thematic committees.
Juscelino indicted
Also on Wednesday (June 12), the Federal Police indicted the Minister of Communications, Juscelino Filhoafter concluding that he committed the crimes of passive corruption, bid fraud and criminal organization when he was a federal deputy for Maranhão.
The minister is suspected of participating in a scheme to divert parliamentary amendments in 2022. The resources, R$ 7.5 million, would have been sent via Codevasf (Companhia de Desenvolvimento dos Vales do São Francisco e do Parnaíba) for the paving of streets in the city of Vitorino Freire. Juscelino’s sister, Luanna Rezende, is the city’s mayor.
Suspension of mandate
The Chamber approved on Wednesday (June 12) a project to facilitate the process of suspending the mandate of deputies who cause “serious disturbance” within Congress.
The text was approved after confusion last week among deputies André Janones (Avante-MG) and Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG). The 2 almost got in in physical confrontation.
