The Normandy American Military Cemetery is a key location in the Battle of Normandy. Nearly 10,000 American soldiers are buried at Colleville-sur-Mer, a stone’s throw from Omaha Beach, where they died to liberate France. Visitors often think of this cemetery as an American plot on French soil, but what is it really? On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of D-Day, the cemetery opened its doors to us.
