Urbano Cairo – Giorgia Meloni
Giorgia Meloni stings La7 in the electoral advert for the European elections
“Dear La7 viewers… we haven’t seen each other for a while…”. Thus begins Giorgia Meloni’s video message broadcast on Urbano Cairo’s networks. This is an electoral advert in view of the European consultations on 8 and 9 June in which the Prime Minister stings La7 by addressing viewers as follows: “I hope to find you heartened by the averted danger of authoritarian drift, of the collapse of the economy, of Italy’s isolation at an international level. Because while many were discussing these ghosts we worked tirelessly to improve Italy’s conditions. So today, even in a difficult situation, Italy has finally returned to growing more than the European average. Exports grew, the spread fell and the Italian stock exchange in 2023 was the best in Europe. But above all we have reached the highest employment rate ever, stable contracts are increasing, female employment is increasing. The risk of poverty decreases and after 3 years wages have started to grow faster than inflation. Obviously we are not satisfied because there is still a lot of work to do but in the meantime you can say whether these results are appreciable. Because on 8 and 9 June it is not the radical chic salons that are speaking but the people and that of the people has always been the only judgment that interests us. Help us change Italy and Europe. On 8 and 9 June give strength to the Brothers of Italy”.
Mentana responds to Meloni’s joke on La7 with an invitation
“I welcome the joke about La7 viewers with a smile: if she misses them the prime minister will be able to meet them on the most important evening of the electoral campaign, the last, Friday 7 June at 9.30pm, given that she was invited like the leaders of the other main lists.” This is what Enrico Mentana, director of Tg La7, said, commenting on the video message in which the Prime Minister speaks with a hint of sarcasm about the broadcaster’s audience.
Formigli: ‘Meloni insults millions of Italians who watch La7’
“What is striking about this video is the leap in quality. This time the Prime Minister does not attack the La7 journalists. You go further and mock and insult millions of Italians who watch our network. The prime minister of half the country who declares war on the other half.” Corrado Formigli, journalist and presenter of Piazzapulita, writes this regarding the prime minister’s commercial in view of the European elections broadcast on the station.
Urbano Cairo, ‘I don’t comment on Meloni in his self-managed space’
“Obviously I don’t comment on what a politician says in his self-managed space on La7”. He tells ANSA Urban Cairoeditor of La7, when asked for a comment on the words of Prime Minister Meloni in the video message broadcast in an editorial space that the network has made available to all leaders.
