Dublin Airport said the plane had landed “in safety” according to the “programmed”. The aircraft is a Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
Turbulence hit the plane as it flew over Turkey. “Upon landing, the aircraft was met by emergency services, including the Airport Police and our Fire and Rescue department”the airport said in a statement.
The broadcaster Raidió Teilifís Éireann (Irish Radio Television) said the incident lasted less than 20 seconds and occurred while food service was being offered.
In a statement, Qatar Airways said that a “small number” of passengers and crew were slightly injured and are under medical care.
The incident occurred days after turbulence on a flight to Singapore killed a 73-year-old man and injured 30 people. A Singapore Airlines Boeing 777 took off from London and had to make an emergency landing in Bangkok, Thailand.
