F1 Monaco, the race report
Years of wounds that vent in a few seconds of radio team. Charles’ scream Leclerc after the checkered flag of the Monaco GP he chases away the ghosts that the Ferrari driver had at home. At the third attempt from pole position, the Monegasque finally wins in Monte-Carlo and breaks the taboo of the Principality, where he had never even reached the podium. One mockery after another in his Monaco, and again this afternoon some bad thoughts will have come to him after the first start, immediately “invalidated” due to the bad accident between Sergio Perez and the two Haas. #16 has to defend himself twice from Oscar Plates in turn-1: if he succeeds, he can manage a long runway to the finish line which for the occasion is not even busy with pit stops, as between the two starts the Ferrari and the McLaren leave the tire.
In the second start the drivers are much more careful and leave Sainte-Dévote as they start: the result is an even more monotonous race than in the past, in which the only team to try something different is McLaren, which tries with Lando Norris to create a window for the free pit stop, but Ferrari is able to use Carlos Sainz to keep the group more compact and prevent his rivals from stopping without losing track position. It therefore ends with the riders arriving as they left, with Leclerc ahead of Piastri and a Sainz very lucky: in the first start the Spaniard was knocked out due to a puncture following a contact with the Australian, but the red flag for the accident on the first lap brings him back to third position restart.
Mercedes in the top-5, with George Russell preceding Max Verstappen. The Dutchman pays dearly for yesterday’s mistake and loses 17 points to Leclerc in the drivers’ standings. And with a Ferrari and a McLaren having confirmed how the updates have responded very well, we could finally have a World Championship: Super Max is in fact +31 on Leclerc and +56 on Norris. Also scoring points today were Lewis Hamilton (7th), Yuki Tsunoda, Alex Albon (who breaks the Williams standings) and Pierre Gasly.
