In Ukraine, reforms are intended to ensure that more men are drafted into armed service. The CDU demands that Germany must support Kiev in this.
Berlin – With the recently enacted reforms of the mobilization law, Ukraine is also relying on Ukrainians living abroad for the Ukraine war to be able to recruit. This is not the first time that the CDU has called for Kiev’s efforts to be supported. No more Ukrainian passports for Ukrainians of military age living in Germany
Since April 24, these men have had to travel back to Ukraine to apply for a new passport. Although men of military age have not been allowed to leave the country since the start of the Ukraine war, according to the Central Register of Foreigners, around 256,000 people from this group were in Germany in March. The figures do not reveal how many of them actually evaded compulsory military service in Ukraine.

Kiesewetter calls for support for Ukraine: “Question of patriotism, supporting your own country”
The Ukrainian mobilization reform, which was passed by the parliament in Kiev in early April, also tightens the rules for registering conscripts, the news agency reported dpa. During the current martial law, for example, all men between the ages of 18 and 60 are required to carry their military passport with them.
