According to information from the latest State Civil Defense bulletin, 15,192 people are in shelters and 80,573 are homeless
The number of deaths in Rio Grande do Sul due to heavy rains rose to 66, according to report card released at 9am this Sunday (May 5, 2024) by the State Civil Defense. Another 101 people remain missing.
By the beginning of Saturday night (May 4), the Military Brigade, the Civil Police and the Military Fire Department had rescued 17,965 people and 23,251 animals.
As of this Sunday (May 5), the vice-governor of Rio Grande do Sul, Gabriel Souza, announced the operation of 3 humanitarian support which will be installed in the cities of Lajeado, Santa Cruz do Sul and Santa Maria. The locals will receive food, drinking water and hygiene kits.
