The most famous car cleaner in the Netherlands was sued.
Who wouldn't want to win a brand new Audi R8? This was possible with our friend Rick van Stippent, who regularly gives away something in a generous mood. He has already given away complete cars several times, including a silver-gray Audi R8 from 2007. It was of course made new from the factory.
This competition dates back to 2022, but this story has been updated. One of the participants in this campaign has filed a lawsuit against Rick. Why? Because he didn't win.
We will attempt to explain. Rick had made the contest quite complicated. Five lots were drawn over five weeks. Then another five lots were drawn. They were all thrown into one pile and the winner was then drawn from that pot.
Here's the thing: the man who filed the lawsuit was the first to be drawn from this pot. However, Rick pointed out the ninth name he donned as winner. The best man did not think that was fair and that is why he demanded €70,000 from Rick.
We can also immediately pronunciation tell: the plaintiff can whistle for his 70 grand. The court ruled that the man had no reason to believe that the first name that would be drawn would also be the winner. According to the judge, Rick was also free to fill in the rules himself.
Despite the lack of clarity of this competition, the Stipt customer is blunt. He will not receive R8, nor €70,000 and will also have to pay the legal costs. That amounts to €5,443. We don't think he will order anything from Stipt in the future…
