Jessie Diggins is still leading the World Cup, but in Lahti the skiing did not go.
of the United States ski cannon and leading the world cup Jessie Diggins the competitions went badly wrong at the weekend in the World Cup competitions in Lahti's Salpauselä. Now Diggins vents his feelings on his Instagram account.
On Saturday, Diggins was 21st in the 20 km (p) race and missed the qualification in the sprint race.
“The weekend was a good reminder of why things beyond my control don't define me or how I feel about myself,” Diggins writes.
“[Sunnuntai] was heartbreaking for me at that moment, but it was also an opportunity to learn and develop in how to deal with a really tough day, because what matters most is how you get out of something like this.”
Diggins the competitions went wrong because the skis were clearly weaker than skiers from other countries.
“It's okay – we learn and get better because everyone works hard for it,” he writes.
In addition, Diggins asks himself an important question: “Am I doing my best now? If the answer is yes, let's just move on.”
Locking back the races ended on Sunday. The cross-country skiing world cup continues next weekend in Holmenkollen.
Diggins leads the women's World Cup overall. Kerttu Niskanen is the sixth best in Finland.
