Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone Season 1 are showing an error message warning that the “data is corrupt or were not downloaded correctly” and says that “you must reset your rank and unlocked content to continue.” Do not worrybecause Activision Blizzard claims that the error is itself an error.
Scrolling through the Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone subreddits you will find many posts from players worried about the error message, but the official Call of Duty Updates account on X states that ranks, purchases, and unlocks are safe despite the error language used by the system. However, you may need to reset your “loadouts, customizations, and other settings” in order to play the game.
“Players accessing Season 1 may see an error message indicating that their data is corrupt,” read a tweet from the Call of Duty support account. “Rest assured that your rank, unlocks and purchases they will not be lostalthough loadouts, customizations and some settings may be reset.”
What the Call of Duty error message asks you to do
If you’re getting the “data is corrupted” error message, you’ll know what’s coming your way two options. One is to press “yes” and proceed with resetting ranks and unlocks – an undoubtedly shocking proposition – and the other is to refuse and wait for a solution to be implemented before playing.
Activision says there’s nothing to worry about and that only the customization settings and little else will be reset, but it is understandable that players hesitate and prefer to wait for Activision to eliminate the error and allow you to play without having to go through this message.
Moving on to even more negative news, we remind you that Call of Duty DMZ has been abandoned by Activision: here’s what will happen to the mode.
