The Chinese newspaper “The Paper” reported that Beijing is now preparing to drop an unidentified object, which was spotted flying over the waters near the coastal city of Qingdao.
The newspaper quoted an employee of the Maritime Development Authority in the “Jimo” district of “Qingdao” city, as saying that “the relevant authorities” are preparing to drop the object, according to the “Bloomberg” news agency, today, Sunday.
The newspaper report added that the employee was not informed of the nature of the object.
The employee said fishermen in the area had been told to be vigilant about safety. The United States and Canada have shot down three high-altitude airborne objects this month, including one that Washington said was deliberately sent by China for surveillance.
Beijing responded that it was a harmless weather-monitoring device that had gone off course.
