The Ferrari Vision Gran Turismo, a single-seater with covered wheels characterized by a futuristic design, is the first concept car from the Maranello company dedicated exclusively to the world of virtual motorsport. Its style is based on Ferrari’s unparalleled tradition in the field of motor racing, starting with the number 75 which stands out on the side and which fully reflects its noble lineage. Indeed, the presentation of the Ferrari Vision Gran Turismo concludes the celebrations dedicated to Ferrari’s 75th anniversary: 75 years ago, the first car of the Prancing Horse, the legendary 125 S, left the gates of the Maranello factory.
The car represents an important step by Ferrari into the virtual arena, aimed at thrilling new generations of motorsport enthusiasts, as well as being a manifesto of the future of the road and racing car as imagined by Maranello’s designers and engineers, aiming to become a source of inspiration for technicians, designers and drivers (real and virtual) of tomorrow and express the concept of beauty and innovation for Ferrari at the highest levels.
The design of the Ferrari Vision Gran Turismo, conceived by the Ferrari Style Center under the direction of Flavio Manzoni, draws inspiration from the world of Ferrari Sport Prototypes of the 60s and 70s which enjoyed enormous success in endurance races such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans, won by Ferrari nine times, and the 24 Hours of Daytona, projecting them towards future scenarios. Its powerful and futuristic lines allow it to perfectly fulfill its stylistic mission, that is to say to embody the DNA of masterpieces such as the Ferrari 330 P3 and 512 S and at the same time represent a tribute to the winning history of the Prancing Horse in the world of competitions. as well as the anticipation of future evolutions of closed-wheel racing cars.
The design of the Ferrari Vision Gran Turismo was conceived starting from the idea of a speedform characterized by very incisive, angular geometric lines, which nonetheless underlie organic surfaces. This juxtaposition has a disruptive effect, as the plasticity of the external and internal surfaces is linked to the geometric rigor of the lines, generating a car with an immediately recognizable personality whose architecture revolves around its aerodynamic concept, based on two imposing side channels. These devices, patented by Ferrari, direct the airflow from the front of the underbody around the cabin and over the large side pods.
This solution makes it possible to obtain excellent aerodynamic downforce, by virtue of the variation in momentum and the suction effect created by the central part of the underbody. The aerodynamics of the rear have been developed using concepts inspired by those of the Ferrari 499P, in particular as regards the extractor and the biplane rear wing. The front S-Duct and integrated air vents in the wheel arches further enhance aerodynamic efficiency and high-speed stability.
The Ferrari Vision Gran Turismo is equipped with a three-litre 120° biturbo V6, the same type of engine boasted by the 296 GTB, the 296 GTS, the 296 GT3 and the Ferrari 499P. In this case, however, the engine is free from any regulatory constraints and is developed with the sole purpose of guaranteeing extreme performance. In this configuration, the engine is capable of delivering 1030 HP at 9000 rpm, to which are added the additional 240 kW (326 HP) generated by three electric motors, one on the rear axle and one on each of the front wheels. The close collaboration between Ferrari and Gran Turismo has ensured that the extraordinary sound of this innovative engine was reproduced as faithfully as possible, thus providing players from all over the world with the most realistic driving experience.

The body of the Ferrari Vision Gran Turismo appears to be suspended on a flat carbon fiber base which incorporates all the technical elements, which remain second-hand. The chassis was designed to emphasize the lateral dynamics of the car in extreme driving conditions. The architecture of the power train ensures optimal weight distribution between the front and rear axles, as well as an extremely low center of gravity for the benefit of all-wheel drive. The tuning of the elastokinematic parameters of the suspension was developed on the basis of the performance characteristics of the tires used by Gran Turismo™, together with the aerodynamic balance of the car, with the aim of ensuring excellent performance both on winding street circuits and on traditional circuits endurance races.
The suspensions are designed to always keep the contact surface of the tires unchanged for the benefit of maximum traction, thus allowing the Vision Gran Turismo to discharge 1100 Nm of torque onto the asphalt on the rear wheels, developed from the combination of internal combustion engine and electric machine, which allow the car to achieve incomparable performance. The cutting-edge electronic controls with which it is equipped give it superb dynamic qualities of agility and balance when cornering, qualities that have always been a symbol of road and racing Ferraris. The driving experience has therefore been designed to faithfully replicate the driving emotions that Ferrari is able to guarantee, with a particular focus on enhancing driving performance and reaching the limits.
The Vision Gran Turismo’s hybrid technology benefits from Ferrari’s unparalleled experience in electric boost strategies and energy recovery gained over years of Formula 1 racing. The constant rebalancing of the battery’s state of charge allows the driver to make the most of maximizing the combined power of the internal combustion engine and the electric ones, in order to obtain maximum performance both during the qualifying laps and in the long stints that characterize endurance races.
The interior design creates a continuum with that of the exterior and is based on a pure and minimalist approach, guaranteeing maximum functionality and ergonomics. The lines of the dashboard also appear simple and clean which, like the transparent rear window which frames and lets the hybrid V6 be seen, favor cutting-edge transparent materials under which the mechanical components of the sophisticated steering wheel can be glimpsed. The man-machine interface is designed to be intuitive and easy to use, in order to allow the rider to concentrate exclusively on the road.
The Ferrari Vision Gran Turismo, presented during the Gran Turismo World Finals held today in Monte Carlo, will be available to all GT7 users starting December 23rd. Starting from 19.00 CET today, however, players will be able to participate in a quiz present in the game and the winner of this contest will receive the Ferrari Vision Gran Turismo as a gift as early as December 15, the date on which the 1:1 scale physical model of the car will make its debut at the Ferrari Museum in Maranello in the area dedicated to the Prancing Horse One-Offs. The car will remain on display until March 2023.

VISION GRAN TOURISM
Gran Turismo™ is a car simulation game that made its debut in 1997. Developed by Polyphony Digital Inc., a subsidiary of Sony Interactive Entertainment Inc., right from the name it embodies the essence of high-performance sports coupes. The Vision Gran Turismo project was launched to coincide with the fifteenth anniversary of the series and arose from a simple question from its creator Kazunori Yamauchi: “Would you be willing to design your own Gran Turismo for us?”. Ferrari has responded positively to this question by creating its first virtual concept car, with the aim of making its exclusive sports cars and the driving emotions they can impart available to an ever-widening audience.
