Melania Trump was “shocked by the Coronavirus and convinced that her husband was doing everything wrong. “This is what was revealed in the new book by two American journalists, Peter Baker and Susan Glasser, who report a phone call that, during the early days of the pandemic, the then first lady made with the former New Jeresy Governor Chris Christie, who she asked to help persuade her husband to take the pandemic more seriously.
“You’re doing everything wrong,” Melania told her husband, according to the two authors of ‘The divider: Trump in the White House, 2017-2021’. “This is a very serious thing, it will be very bad, and you have to take it more seriously than you are doing”, Melania said to her husband who told her that he “worried too much”.
THE GIFT OF TRUMP – ” I thought I was going to have a heart attack. I couldn’t breathe. ” Thus King Abdullah II of Jordan recalled the moments in which in January 2018 the then American President Donald Trump had offered him a ‘gift’: the entire West Bank, between Israel and Jordan, a ‘favor’ that Trump wanted to do to king Abdullah without realizing the destabilizing effects of this offer. That’s as much as next week’s book, ‘The Divider: Trump in the White House 2017-2021’. The volume, of which the Washington Post has obtained a copy, collects the reports that Baker and Glasser made for their respective newspapers ” as well as about 300 original interviews conducted exclusively for this book ”. They explained that they had “obtained private journals, notes, emails, text messages and other documents relating to when Trump was in the office”.
One theme that emerges in the book is Trump’s growing fixation on attacking his alleged enemies and the growing concern among senior officials in his administration about having to prevent illegal requests. Several senior officials “were on the verge of resigning en masse,” reads the volume, which quotes an October 2018 message from Kirstjen Nielsen, the national security secretary. They were ready to leave Chief of Staff John F. Kelly, Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis, Chief of Staff General Joseph F. Dunford Jr., Secretary of Education Betsy Devos and Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke.
