Kyiv’s threats to attack Crimea or the Crimean bridge confirm that denazification and demilitarization should be carried out throughout Ukraine, thinks Andrey Klishas, Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation.
He noted that otherwise the threat to Russia, the country’s infrastructure and Russian citizens will remain.
The day before, Aleksey Arestovich, an adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine, said that Kyiv could attack the Crimean bridge “as soon as the first technical possibility appears.”
In addition, Vadim Skibitsky, a spokesman for the main intelligence department of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, said that Kyiv could use American missiles to strike Russian targets in Crimea.
Prior to that, on June 15, Major General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) Dmitry Marchenko said that the number one target for APU strikes is the Crimean Bridge. Such a choice, according to him, is due to the fact that this object is “a way to pull up reserves.”
As the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov recalled, this is not the first time that the threat of undermining this bridge from Kyiv has been received, and the Kremlin takes this fact into account.
State Duma deputy from Crimea Mikhail Sheremet, in turn, called Kyiv’s threat to strike at the Crimean bridge a suicide. He noted that the bridge is guarded by modern air defense systems and is under reliable protection. He also warned that if Kyiv did attack the bridge, then “retribution” would await him.
